Key for Key: Welcome Home March Update

Mar 1, 2022

We are filled with joy and excitement to share with you this month’s Key For Key® Welcome Home Update. Earlier this month, we were not only fortunate enough to build more homes for our friends in the Los Lotes Community, but this time, some of our Concierge team members were able to build alongside them! Our teams worked over a 48-hour timeframe to construct two new homes for the Lopez and Trejo families.

We are also thrilled to share that with the addition of these homes, the Los Lotes community is now complete with a total of 60 homes. We are eager to start building in the next community in the coming months!

As always, our TECHO and Giveback Homes™ teams were extraordinary leaders during the experience as they continue working hard to provide better circumstances for the families. We don’t know about you, but we think every celebration is brighter with a little confetti—read on for some of our favorite highlights from the recent trip:

The Build — The sun was hot but spirits were high as our team arrived on site. The families were already hard at work setting the foundations of the homes. They were quick to both welcome us and teach us exactly what to do. Needless to say, not much can keep our team from getting down and dirty. By the end of Day 1, foundations had been set, floors were installed, walls were raised, painting began, and the roofs were prepped.

From foundations to painting, day 1 was filled with incredible progress.

Day 2 brought more sunny skies and brightness, especially to some very special Key Ceremonies—meet our recipient families below:

Nora Alicia Lopez Family — After her husband passed away unexpectedly, Nora also lost possession of their home. She was able to move in with her daughter, but we are thrilled that she was a new home recipient. Nora is 48 years old and one of her favorite things to do is pick flowers. We have a great feeling she will cultivate a beautiful garden and a beautiful future for herself in her new home.

Mercelino Lopez Trejo Family — Mercelino and his partner Marta have lived in Los Lotes for over 50 years. Mercelino works as a security guard and loves to take on other jobs in agriculture, while Marta loves to cook and take care of the family. Together, they have a 12-year-old daughter, Marcela, who loves to study and dance and one day dreams of owning her own salon. Though Mercelino had to work the day the home was presented, we hope he could feel the love and happiness from the Key Ceremony celebrated with Marta and Marcela—and we’re sure this confetti trail leads straight to a brighter future.

The After Party — Our team members were lucky enough to head to the local community center to spend time with all of the amazing community members and learn a bit more about their culture while participating in games and activities. We can certainly say these kids kept us on our toes with soccer, piñatas, and much more! Business Developer, Rick Bradford, was even able to present the Community Leader with a miniature library he built so that families can borrow books as they please.

We loved getting to know all of the community members and the kids were experts in having fun.

The TECHO and Giveback Homes™ teams were incredible to work alongside during this trip.

We are so grateful for the opportunity to meet these resilient families in person and we cannot wait to be back in El Salvador once again.

While we sell elite properties, none compare to the impact of homes built through our  partnership with  Giveback Homes™, and we are thankful for the relationships with our Key for Key® community we hold tightly to.  To learn more about our Key for Key® program and how to further give back with us, visit ConciergeKeyForKey.com.
